How to Apply for Financial Aid

Our financial aid program is designed to make a Bertschi School education possible for all families based on demonstrated financial need and the availability of funds. We are proud to use the Clarity application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information shared which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts.

To get started, go to Clarity and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. Clarity is also mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time. At the end of the application, there is a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools. Click here to read the Clarity family application guide.

Please remember to return to your dashboard after you complete and submit your Clarity application, as Bertschi requires you to upload additional tax documentation including S-Corp, K-1, and paystubs.

The deadline for completing the financial aid application including relevant supplemental documents is February 6, 2024. You will be notified of the Financial Aid Committee’s decision on March 22, 2024.

If you need support during the process of completing your application, there is in-app support available as well as email support at [email protected] in both English and Spanish. The application itself is also fully translated into Spanish.

Financial aid awards are based on a family’s ability to meet the cost of an education at Bertschi. To determine the most fair and equitable estimate of a family’s need, Bertschi utilizes Clarity, an organization that does an independent assessment of financial need. In addition, parents are asked to provide an explanation of their financial situation and relevant documents (tax returns, wage statements, etc.). The Clarity system collects all data through a web-based, secure process.

The Financial Aid Committee includes the Head of School, the Chief Financial Officer, and the Director of Enrollment Management who meet to make decision about each family's award, taking all information available into account.

Bertschi's Financial Aid Policy is available here.

The admission committee reviews applicant files with a primary goal in mind: to identify those students who will benefit the most from an education at Bertschi, and make a positive contribution to the life of the school. The committee does not have access to financial information or aid applications.
