Making the most of Bertschi’s own "back yard."
At Bertschi, students are able to explore and interact with the best that North
Capitol Hill has to offer. Students regularly go on outings to a variety of landmarks,
parks, and special destinations. And most locations are just a short walk or bus
ride from the Bertschi campus.
Places to visit in the neighborhood:
- The kindergarten class walks to the renowned urban
garden of Daniel and Anne Streissguth a couple of times during the year. The Streissguth’s
maintain a wonderland of native plants, butterflies, bees, and other
treasures that our children love to explore. Daniel and Anne then
visit the class in the spring to share more about their love of gardening
and connection to the land.
- Bertschi students walk to Volunteer
Park to explore the Conservatory
as well as the Seattle
Asian Art Museum.
- The Pre-K class visits the Seattle
Fire Station just blocks
away as part of Fire Safety month. The outing includes a stop for lunch
and play at Roanoke Park across the street.
- The first grade class enjoys
a relationship with a first grade class at Stevens
Elementary School, which includes letters between students, visits
to both schools and a joint outing to Volunteer Park.
